lain gangster Vikas Dubey's wife Richa Dubey has denied any knowledge of her husband's criminal activities. In an exclusive interview to AajTak and India Today, Richa Dubey said that she had not lived with Vikas Dubey since 1998 and her contact with him was limited to matters related to the upbringing of their two children.

Vikas Dubey, accused of killing eight cops by ambushing them outside his house in Kanpur's Bikru village during a raid on the intervening night of July 2 and 3, was killed in a police encounter on July 10. There are at least 60 cases related to land grab, criminal intimidation and murder. But it is suspected that he manages to evade justice due to his connections with state politicians and police.

Richa Dubey claimed that even as she knew her husband was short-tempered and suffering from anxiety, she never thought that he would commit a heinous act like killing policemen.

Vikas Dubey's wife claimed that since she is also now a widow she can feel the pain of all the women who lost their husbands in Kanpur ambush.

एसटीएफ (STF) के हाथों पिछले दिनों मुठभेड़ (Encounter) में मारे गए कुख्यात अपराधी विकास दुबे (Vikas Dubey) की पत्नी ने अपने पति की 500 करोड़ की संपत्ति होने की खबरों को फर्जी बताते हुए कहा है कि वह अपने परिवार को मझधार में छोड़ गया है. पत्नी ऋचा के मुताबिक कानपुर के बिकरू गांव में पिछली दो-तीन जुलाई की मध्यरात्रि को आठ पुलिसकर्मियों की हत्या का मुख्य अभियुक्त रहा विकास अपने बच्चों को तो अच्छा भविष्य देना चाहता था, लेकिन खुद अपराध की दुनिया से बाहर नहीं निकलना चाहता था. ऋचा ने मुठभेड़ में शहीद हुए पुलिस वालों की पत्नियों से माफी मांगते हुए कहा कि अगर उनका वश चलता तो वह खुद को विधवा कर लेती मगर उस कृत्य को रोक देती.
