Carlos Daniel Crespo Planas, también conocido como Ñejo, nació el 20 de junio de 1975, en Ponce, Puerto Rico. Se interesó por la música desde niño y mostró su talento en diferentes escenarios de la isla. El nombre Ñejo le fue dado por su madre, y ella no revela el significado.

Ñejo fue un dúo con el cantante Dalmata. Su primer disco, "Broke and Famous", alcanzó el número 8 en el Billboard Latin Rhythms Albums. Después de separarse de Dalmata, Ñejo lanzó la canción "No Quiere Novio", que se convirtió en su primer éxito.
