South Africa, Johannesburg. For 20 years now, the District 9 refugee camp has housed the world's biggest refugee problem: more than a million aliens who have fled their own world. The coexistence of humans and aliens is not going well and humanity's patience is starting to run out. When the aliens arrived, the world expected a huge step forward in technology, but the aliens' huge range of weapons has not been utilized despite the efforts - activation requires the alien's DNA from its user.
