After a gap of month, Indian Railways has conducted a fresh phase of Trials of Train-18, this time between New Delhi and Varanasi, while the last one happened till Allahabad only.

Trials of Train-18 aka Vande Bharat Express captured at Dankaur, while returning to New Delhi from Varanasi passing through Allahabad and Kanpur. I also compiled the other trains that were captured during this trial yesterday.

The train is set to run by the mid of this month, before 2019 General Elections and will be innaugurated by PM Narendra Modi from Varanasi. However there's no clarity on the route to be taken between Allahabad and Varanasi as in go via Phaphamau-Jangai (NR Section) or via Vindhyanchal-Mirzapur (NCR Section).

Train 18 is an Indian semi-high speed train, an intercity electric multiple unit, a type of self-propelled train without a separate dedicated locomotive. It was designed and built by Integral Coach Factory (ICF) Chennai under the Indian government's Make in India Initiative over a span of 18 months. The unit cost of the first rake was given as ₹100 crore (US$14 million), though the unit cost is expected to go down with subsequent production. At the original price, it is estimated to be 40% less costly than a similar train imported from Europe.

It was recently renamed as Vande Bharat Express by the Government of India.
